Hotel and Motel Fire Safety Act ComplianceBy promoting fire and life safety in hotels, motels, and other places of public accommodation, Congress passed into law, The Hotel and Motel Fire Safety Act of 1990 (PL101-391) to save lives and protect property. This law mandates that when traveling, federal employees must stay in public accommodations that adhere to the life safety requirements in the legislation guidelines. Applicable to all places of public accommodation, the bill requires that such properties be equipped with: - Hard-wired, single-station smoke detectors in each guestroom in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard 72
- An automatic fire-protection sprinkler system containing a sprinkler head in each guestroom in compliance with NFPA standards 13 or 13R; properties three stories or lower in height are exempt from this requirement.
ATR Global, Inc. is thoroughly familiar with the mandates set forth in the 1990 law, and its experienced professionals are qualified to perform evaluations of hotels and motels for compliance with these requirements.
